Built in the small hours.
Lucubra Studio is a small team that makes a few apps and sweats the details on each one.
Lucubration is an old word for careful work done by lamplight — the late-night study, the patient effort after everyone else has gone to bed. It is the spirit we build in. We are a small studio, and we like it that way: a handful of apps, each one made slowly, finished properly, and looked after for the long haul.
Our mission is simple, and it sits behind everything we ship: build software that helps people understand and interact with their world. That means tools that quietly do their job — calm to use, honest about your data, and genuinely helpful — rather than apps that compete for your attention. We would rather make a few things well than many things loudly.
ColorBlindMe began with a simple question: can software help people understand and share how they see color? It offers a quick color-vision screening — never a medical diagnosis — and a live camera view that lets anyone experience the world through your eyes. White Noise HD came from the opposite need: a single button between you and the noise, for rest, focus, and sleep. Two small apps, one studio, the same care.
Made by lamplight.
Why a lamp
The mark is a lucerna — a shallow oil-lamp dish cradling a single flame, the literal instrument of working by lamplight. It stands for the kind of work we admire: unhurried, attentive, and warm. A small light, kept burning, doing careful work while the world is quiet.
Everything we make is built and maintained by Lucubra LLC. We do not sell your data, and we use no third-party ad tracking. When something needs explaining, we explain it plainly. That is the whole idea.
